As you will quickly learn, I am a HUGE fan of throwing a belt onto any outfit. It can be worn around a shirt, a dress, a sweater, a jacket...anything! It sheds inches off your figure when worn to cinch the smallest part of the waist. It spices up an otherwise bland outfit by adding a splash of color or just making the look more put together. It reinvents old or previously retired outfits. And since great belts can be found in many places at a reasonable price, you don't have to break the bank to do all of this! I've found some nice belts at Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Loehman's, H&M, etc!
But hey, you don't have to take my word for it. Check out any recent episode of Ugly Betty. That show is PACKED with several belted outfits on nearly all of the female characters (and yes, even Betty. If you look past her overly colored and layered looks, you will see that she actually has some great individual pieces and concepts under there...just not put together well.) I still do not doubt their style credibility seeing that most of these characters are working for a major fashion magazine.
If you need any more convincing, check out our ever so stylin' First Lady, Michelle Obama. She is frequently "belting it!" during her many press appearances.
